Member's Nite

Members' Night Beach Party at KM8 - September 2005

The weather was perfect for a beach party on the balmy shores of Sentosa.  From 6pm onwards, members started arriving at the 8-month old club, KM8.  The early birds were able to soak in the blue skies, sandy beaches & clear waters of the beautiful lagoon.  While wedding couples wrapped up their outdoor shoots by the shoreline & the tanned beach volleyball players called it a day, the scene was set for our private beach party.  We were expecting a 43-member turn out since the last Members' Night held six months ago.

The island's many roundabouts proved to be quite confusing & several Porsches were 'lost' as they missed the turn off to Tanjong Beach.  Slowly the crowd trickled in, greeted by friendly staff & a welcome drink, which was a refreshing mix of tangy mango & margarita topped with a cherry in a salt-laced cocktail glass.  Everyone was tagged with fluorescent green armbands to identify the club members for their free flow of drinks.

The sun was beginning to set as the car park filled with the familiar line-up of colourful Porsches.  Many friendly faces & a few new members had come to join the beach party.  Only a few came in their swimming attire & took to the water.  But no one was brave enough to take a dip in the hot tub by the bar, which was set up especially for 'ladies & couples only'.

Dinner was a simple buffet of local fare, ranging from KM8's signature fiery laksa to succulent satay, fried honey chicken, fresh salad, tropical fruits & dessert pastries.  We sat on wooden rustic tables by the beach while unobtrusive music played in the background.  On each table, a single candle lit glass cast a flickering orange glow over our filled dinner plates.  We sank our tired feet into the soft sand & enjoyed the unique beach dining experience under the stars.

There were many merry members by the end of the evening, one was heard chanting from the beach, "Extend happy hour, please."  The tranquil atmosphere at KM8 was the perfect setting for members to catch up & for new members to meet some like-minded Porsche folk.
