Club Breakfast Get Together - Sunday 29th May 2005  (by Fong Kwok Jen)

Sunday 29th May was the first local breakfast get-together for the club in 2005.  From about nine in the morning Porsches started streaming into the carpark of an obscure hotel in Bukit Timah. The members came in their 911s, Boxsters and Cayennes. A pleasant surprise was Li Chang who came in his immaculate red 944 turbo cabriolet.

Lois & TJ/Samantha had the honour of being the first to drive their new 997s to a club event. The gathering of Porsches attracted the attention of Dr Roger, Vice-President of the Mini Enthusiasts Club Singapore, who was driving by in his (rare in S'pore) 1970 Mini Cooper 1275 S*. He dropped in to say hello but alas could not stay for breakfast as he had to be off to his clinic.

The normally quiet ambience of the old colonial hotel was filled with chatter, laughter and smiles of nearly 60 members, spouses & children. Two hours later many were still there hanging loose in the carpark chatting about the car they love.

*The Mini-Cooper S dominated the Monte Carlo Rally from 1964 to 67. In the 1968 event it raced gallantly but was overwhelmed by the 911 which won the event for the first time.
